It is the mission of the Somerset Police Department to protect life and property while providing professional and courteous law enforcement service to all citizens on behalf of the City of Somerset, Texas.

The Somerset Police Department provides law enforcement service within the jurisdictional boundaries of the City of Somerset, TX 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Additionally, Somerset Police Department Officers are available to assist surrounding law enforcement agencies as the need arises or upon request.

1) Complete and turn in a City of Somerset Application and a TCOLE Personal History Statement (PHS)

2) Preliminary Background and Qualifications Check
3) Structured Officer Panel Interview
4) Thorough Background Investigation
5) Chief and Mayor Interview
6) ***Medical and Psychological Exams (New Peace Officer or P.O. with 180-day break in service or more;
to be paid for by the applicant)***
7) Final Selection/Recommendation to City Administrator, Mayor and City Council for Appointment as a
Reserve Somerset Police Officer
